Junior Program and Tournament Descriptions

1 Junior QuickStart

This is a Level 1 tournament on the Junior Tennis Participation Path and is beginner entry level for junior players ages 4-12. The Quickstart tournament offers graduated court sizes and both Quickstart 1 (Foam or Red Ball – 36 ft. court) & Quickstart 2 (Low-Compression Ball – 60 ft. court) divisions. This is an excellent way to introduce a child to the fun of competition without having to develop all of the necessary skills for full match play. With this no-serve format, the competitors simply “drop-feed” the ball to begin play, with each player feeding an entire game, the same as in a serving rotation. The innovative foam & low-Compression balls are used for this event move slower than a normal ball and helps our young players find success quickly. Quickstart 1 (Foam/Red Ball) division uses timed rounds for each competition. Quickstart 2 (Low-Compression Ball) uses a straight forward numerical system (1, 2, 3 & 4) to keep score for the games and the sets. Each Quickstart 2 match will utilize a short set (First player to four games by one). The best part of this event is that it is non-elimination. This means that win or lose, each child will continue to participate! Please keep in mind parents, this is your child’s first step toward enjoying tennis for a lifetime. We encourage fun and learning over winning with this event. Entry deadline is three days prior to event. However, we accept entries on a first come – first serve basis and draws are limited, so get signed up early!
